How does publishing a comic book or graphic novel through M.K.U.I.I. OR Action's-site studios work?
it's set up so that creators could do what they want with their creations, and reap the benefits financially. When a book is published by M.K.U.I.I., creators are paid 80 percent of net pay after taxes and all employees involved with the project/projects are paid first. this involves a one month and three day (from first date of sale) waiting period, until the final net returns are in.
Does this company advertise for all comic book companies?
nope. we only advertise for independent companies that are creator owned and operated, and that do not steal copyrights and trademarks from actual creators, and force multiple law suits.
we prefer you to choose artists and find one for yourself, as you are the one who knows, or should have some idea of how your vision should be interpreted in comic book form. we can provide the colorists.
WHAT IS THIS COMPANY?
a "GRAPHIC-ARC'S" BASED COMPANY. (ALTHOUGH I CREATED THE TERM 'GRAPHIC-ARC'S" BECAUSE THIS MEDIUM HAS CHANGED FROM COMIC BOOKS, TO SOMETHING MORE PROFOUND AND LITERARY...AS MORE ADULT THEMES HAPPEN MORE & MORE IN TODAY'S COMICS.)
(NOTE: EVEN THOUGH I CREATED THE TERM "GRAPHIC-ARC'S" COMPANY, I MEAN FOR THAT SPECIFIC TERM TO BE AUTOMATICALLY ENTERED INTO THE PUBLIC DOMAIN,..MEANING ANY COMPANY THAT DOES ADULT THEMED COMICS LIKE DC & MARVEL REGULARLY DOES, CAN USE THAT TERM, INSTEAD OF COMICS/COMIC BOOKS..)
IT IS ALSO A DONATIONS FOR MULTIPLE CHARITIES ORGANIZATION. WE DONATE HALF OF ALL NET INCOME FROM SALES TO: CANCER RESEARCH, AIDS RESEARCH, N.A.S.A. ROBOTICS RESEARCH, HOMELESSNESS, & AUTISIM RESEARCH. WE DO NOT HOWEVER ACCEPT TAX WRITE OFFS FOR THE DONATIONS WE MAKE, AS WE FEEL THAT KINDA THING SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.

THERE WILL BE A SPACE MAP, A WATER MAP, FIVE CITY MAP'S, AND VARIOUS MYSTICAL REALM MAPS AS WELL.
YOU START OUT WITH ALL OF YOUR POWERS FROM THE CLASS OF HERO YOU CREATE, just like a character from an actual comic does. AS YOU GO THROUGH THE GAME YOU WILL LEARN NEW UTILIZATION'S FOR SAID POWERS, AND EARN UTILIZATION POINT SPECIFICS, OR U.P.S.
YOU MAY CREATE UP TO NINE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS AT THE SAME TIME, AND FORM AN ENTIRE GROUP THAT YOU CONTROL.
YOU MAY CREATE NINE MORE CHARACTERS, BUT THEY AREN'T PLAYABLE AT THE SAME TIME.
GROUP PLAY/TEAM UPS WITH OTHERS IS ALSO POSSIBLE, BUT NO COALITION'S WITH OTHER TEAMS ARE ALLOWED. HOWEVER YOU MAY END UP FIGHTING OTHER TEAMS BECAUSE OF MINOR MISUNDERSTANDINGS.
NOTE: (AS ALWAYS, YOU OWN WHAT/WHO YOU CREATE. THE ONLY WAY WE AT M.K.U.I.I. CAN LEGALLY UTILIZE YOUR CHARACTER, OR CHARACTERS IN OUR COMIC'S/GRAPHIC-ARCS, IS IF WE HAVE LEGAL PERMISSION FROM YOU. AND IF WE DO YOU ARE ENTITLED TO 80% OF ROYALTIES PERIOD.)
WE DO NOT DO "FREELANCE" WORK FOR HIRE WITH EMPLOYEES.
we have set legal and binding ten year contracts. if an artist, colorist, or writer is fast enough, and can get ten years worth of quality work done in two years, then he/she may opt to sign another contract with us, or not.
(note: there are twelve issues a year, thirty three pages each.) Please read this f.a.q. page multiple times, and then post actual works in the proper forums. we have a place dedicated for artists, colorists, & writers to post work. if we like what we see, we will contact you if you have a clear e-mail address, or link.
we do not utilize/hire inkers. in photoshop, there are numerous ways to color un-inked art work. one, is to multiply the line art, another, is to darken the line art with filters, channels, or the artist can learn to draw well with an ink pen. if an artist insists on an inker, they must pay that person themselves. mythology kingdom does not accept any responsibility for any law suits arising out of an artist utilizing an inker, and not paying said inker.
also, we do not credit said inker in our works/comics.
the reasons for this are twofold: one was already mentioned above, the advancement of photoshop has made leaps and bounds since the mid-90's, and two: we can utilize the money we would have used on inker's, to donate to research.
WE WILL ONLY BE RELEASING TRADES (TRADE COLLECTED EDITIONS) ON THE FIRST TEN ISSUES OF ALL OUR COMICS, PERIOD. AFTER THIS COMMEMERATIVE RELEASE, NO MORE TRADES WILL BE ISSUED AT ALL.
the reason for this is simple. collected editions often decrease the value of the original seperate first print issues, in the overstreet comic book price guide. and this is every bit a collectors market, just as much as a fan based market. its both.
WE WILL BE DOING MULTIPLE MINI, AND MAXI SERIES, AS WELL AS GRAPHIC NOVELS.
EVERYTHING DONE, NINE MONTHS BEFORE ACTUAL SALE OF BOOKS WE PUBLISH.
WE DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS OF MONEY, WE MAY GIVE PEOPLE SPECIAL COLLECTORS ITEMS, IF SOMETHING HAPPENS THAT WE FEEL
WARRANTS IT.
Q:MAJOR COMIC COMPANIES HAVE EXPRESSED A WANT TO GO DIGITAL VERY SOON. HOW DOES THIS COMPANY FEEL ABOUT IT?
A: For some, this seems like a good idea for the environment. not us. here's why:
fact: cars burning gas and oil are wrong. & we have known it for years,..yet very few including those same "companies" are planning to do what i have done: don't drive until cars aren't burning gas and oil. while we have a responsibility to the planet, we cant just forget about the facts.
another fact is, weather we like it or not, banks aren't going to insure first "print" digital anything. digital comics while fun, can be hacked, stolen, corrupted, or accidentally deleted. and if they are on a kindle, dropped and broken. the overstreet comic book price guide can't at this time put a worth on a digital comic, period. how then does the collector get and retain money for collected comics?? they don't. & that's just the harsh reality of this medium, currently.
so currently, we wont be going digital, until these and more problems with it are fixed. we will however donate to N.A.S.A. robotics research, to further the goal of reaching other worlds to bring back more plant life from space, to both cure cancer, aids, and the environment. we will also fund smart environmental research, as well as re-plant trees. this is a collectors market, as well as a fan based one.
"I’m tired of this whole “Kill the original hero” so that we can get the new Superman, Batman,
Atom, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow etc..
Writers run out of ideas and instead of doing the hard thing and reinvent the originals themselves to be relevant in today’s society,
THEY create a new one with the gimmick of being this personality or that social stereotype when in the end,
we all know that in a year or two nostalgia will rear it’s ugly head and demand that the original hero return. (SEE FIRESTORM FOR AN EXAMPLE...)
These heroes had been around for 40 or 50 years without dying, and they have been entertaining for generations. & SOLD WELL UNDER COMPETENT WRITING.
Stop killing, and start creating stories that don’t rely on a gimmick to SELL books."
m.k.u.i.i. agrees whole heartedly with the above post, taken from another site.
Q:HOW DOES THIS COMPANY FEEL ABOUT WARNER BROS./DC COMICS LOOSING THE SUPERMAN COPYRIGHT IN 2013?
A: This is a good thing.
creators spend time away from family, friends, and loved ones, to give us these cherished works, and what did they get for it?
nothing.....until now. in fact, both the creators of superman died in destitution.
superman couldn't fly when he first appeared, and that was also a good thing.
we don't want, or need him to fly. we need him to symbolize the best in humanity. and Warner bros, disney, and marvel symbolize the worst in us. capitalism. M.K.U.I.I. feels that this is a democracy,..NOT a capitalist nation.
if only they could actually live up to the way the heroes they publish are actually written to be. GREEN ARROW, BATMAN, AND IRON-MAN, donate to various charities in their secret identities. therefore, so should all super hero comics companies. practice what ya preach.
if ya write it, do it. period.
(for those who don't know, DC comics looses the copyright, and all related trademarks to the creators families in 2013, by a court ruling.)
hope the family of Bob Kane is going to follow suit, regarding Batman & all related trademarks, especially for the fact that DC killed Bruce Wayne for his 70th anniversary, and chose to ignore the character.(I like Dick Grayson, and yes as batman. but i think, like a lot of actual fans, that the timing of this is wrong. Bruce should have been batman for his 70th anniversary,& there should, & could have been a celebration, in order to responsibly honer Bob Kane the ACTUAL creator of batman.)
APPARENTLY THE JACK KIRBY ESTATE IS NOW IN A LAW STRUGGLE WITH MARVEL COMICS, OVER CHARACTERS MARVEL THINKS THEY OWN BUT DON'T NOW AS WELL.
GOOD FOR THE KIRBY-FAM. PERHAPS BOTH DC AND MARVEL SHOULD HAVE THE HIGH-PRICED LAWYERS THEY PAY REGULARLY DO SOME ACTUAL RESEARCH ON THE COPYRIGHT/TRADEMARK/CHARACTER CREATOR LAWS AS OF 1999...WE AT M.K.U.I.I. FEEL VERY SORRY FOR THESE AND OTHER SO-CALLED COMPANIES THAT REGULARLY KEEP CREATIONS THAT AREN'T THEIRS FROM ACTUAL, FACTUAL CREATORS. IF YOU CREATE IT, THE LAW STATES YOU AUTOMATICALLY OWN IT.
THE LAWS STATE THAT ANY & ALL CREATORS AUTOMATICALLY OWN THE CREATIONS THEY CREATE PERIOD, UNLESS THEY SELL THE CREATION OUTRIGHT FOR A FAIR PRICE, NOT TO COMPANIES WHO PAY FAR, FAR LESS THAN WHAT THE CHARACTERS WILL EVENTUALLY BE WORTH/ STEAL THEM. THERE WILL BE MORE LAW SUITS. I WILL SEE TO IT MYSELF.
Q: What is a FAQ?
A: FAQ is an acronym for "frequently asked questions."
Q: should i copyright/trademark my creations first, before submitting to this company?
A: yes. definitely. we do not steal copyrights/trademarks here. we take only 20 percent, you get 80 percent of all comics sold. we also give the creator 40 percent of action figures, t-shirts, hats, & buttons, and we keep 80 percent of movies/tv-series made, as we are paying actors, and c.g.i. effects. if you are ever unhappy at m.k.u.i.i., you may take your copyrights/trademarks and leave.
Q: if movies/tv-series are made off of my properties, will my characters be changed for audiences who don't normally read comics????
A: no. absolutely not. if we make a movie, or series off of your property, you will write, co-direct, and co-produce, or it will not be done. we put this in legal writing. our movies are for those who read comics only. in advertisements, we will discourage others who don't read comics from viewing our movies/series.
also, it must be viable to make clothing lines, movies, tv series, animated projects, and action figures off of any properties we make comics on. if not we won't utilize your character.
Q: What if I have more than one comic book idea?
A: that's good, because we accept a minimum of three ongoing series, per creator.
Q: What should I NOT include in my writing/creating submissions?
A: anything goes, the more realistic the better. we don't censor here.
Q: How should I format my submissions? ...also is this a shared universe?
A: don't worry too much about formatting, just submit something you can prove you yourself created.(we require legal documentation signed by a lawyer, that states the copyrights/trademarks are your own.)
yes. its a shared universe, meaning you will have to at times show our characters in your comics, and we will have to show yours as well, in ours.
Q: do you promote other companies?
A: yes. as long as its an independent. we don't promote for DC comics, marvel comics, most known publishers, or anyone who owns them.
THE REASON FOR THIS IS SIMPLE: THOSE COMPANIES REGULARLY KEEP CHARACTERS/PROFITS FROM ACTUAL CREATORS WHO GAVE THEM SAID CHARACTERS TO BEGIN WITH, AND FORCE SAID CREATORS TO REGULARLY SUE THEM, WHICH IS AGAINST CURRENT FEDERAL LAW,..AND BAD COMPANY PRACTICE.
Q:SOME COMPANIES DO BI-WEEKLY COMICS. DOES M.K.U.I.I.??
A: not at this time, nope.
Q: There has been much outcry by fans, over marvels spider-man:"one more day"story arc. how does your company feel about it??
A: we feel that flagship characters should not, at any time be written to make deals with the devil, in order to retcon long standing marriage, and suffer no consequence after not remembering said deal.
we feel that it is satanic, and pathetic. we will not allow such blasphemy to grace our company with its presence.
furthermore we are boycotting marvel comics, for that, and killing off patriotic icons in the middle of a war over seas, thus demoralizing the country. OH...AND.....
!!! SEPTEMBER 1ST 2009: OK....APPARENTLY MARVEL HAS BEEN SOLD TO DISNEY FOR FOUR BILLION.
THEY WERE ALREADY MESSED UP...NOW I ALMOST FEEL BAD ABOUT THE SITUATION THEY FIND THEMSELVES IN.
ANY COMICS COMPANY IS NOW TWENTY TIMES BETTER THAN MARVEL. THEY ARE NO LONGER A VIABLE CONSIDERATION, AS FAR AS COMPETITIVE ANYTHING GOES...WITH ANYONE. AS OF NOW I FIND OUR COMPANY ONLY HAVING VIABLE RIVALS IN: DC COMICS, DYNAMITE, DARK HORSE, IMAGE, AND TOP COW. (YEP. I BLOG ON MY F.A.Q. PAGE.)
Q: APPARENTLY, DISNEY MADE MULTIPLE STATEMENTS ON MULTIPLE SITES, THAT STATE THEY WANT TO UTILIZE MARVEL COMICS TO SPECIFICALLY TARGET MALES. DOES THIS MEAN THEY DON'T CARE TO INCLUDE FEMALES AS WELL, OR THAT THEY DON'T KNOW FEMALES ARE A GROWING MARKET FOR COMICS??!?!?
A: we find it hard to believe, that disney would not have researched the market, and gone to a few conventions in the last four years that this deal has been actually in the paperwork stages. so we feel that they know, and just don't care that females also love this medium.
We will be taking a much, much different approach, as Mythology Kingdom feels there is just as much of a market for females in comics, if not more so.
KAY. SO MARVEL GOT CAUGHT MAKING POLITICAL STATEMENTS AGAINST THE SO CALLED "TEA-PARTY"/HATE MONGER MOVEMENT. THEY APOLOGIZED, BASICALLY STATING IT WAS A PRINT ERROR. WE AT M.K.U.I.I. TAKE THE TIME WITH EDITORIAL TO MAKE SURE THAT PRINT ERRORS DON'T HAPPEN. WE HATE THE "TEA-PARTY" MOVEMENT, AND SOME OF OUR COMICS WILL TAKE INTENTIONAL POLITICAL & RELIGIOUS STANCES. PERIOD. THEY MAY BE DEMOCRAT, THEY MAY BE REPUBLICAN, THEY MAY BE THIRD PARTY, BUT ALL OUR WRITERS ARE ABLE TO MAKE SUCH STATEMENTS LEGALLY.
Q: will this company be killing off characters at all??
A: yes. but not just to sell a comic, and not just for shock value.
and if we kill a character, they wont be brought back to life implauseably. someone may rise to replace them, but whats done is done. and they wont be replaced by psycho long dead sidekicks.
a sidekick might rise to replace them, but not if they themselves are already long dead.
Q:what ratings will go on all Mythology Kingdom titles?
A: pg-13, nc-17, & mature content.
